Ms. Marcia Shea
Ms. Shea is a Senior Paralegal at the firm with over 18 years of combined U.S. and foreign patent and trademark prosecution in the fields of software, electronics, medical devices, and telecommunications. She specializes in setting up IP-related procedures and docketing systems.
At the firm, Ms. Shea works closely with Patent Attorneys and Technical writers to develop the foreign filing practice of the firm, including docketing procedures, form letters, forms, and in-house foreign filing procedures. She also assists clients in developing their US and foreign filing procedures. She is proficient in filing PCT applications using PCT-SAFE, and maintaining them through the national phase and issuance. She has filed direct foreign patent applications and foreign trademark applications. She developed and presented a staff foreign filing orientation program and audited foreign cases transferred into the firm. She also handles trademark prosecution.
Ms. Shea has developed and presented a course for SCI3 entitled FOREIGN FILING BASICS FOR SUPPORT STAFF. She has also successfully completed the PCT Training Courses I and II from SCI3, and the PCT Advanced Seminar for Paralegals from Intellectual Property International. Marcia was teaching a Patent Prosecution class for the Paralegal Certificate Program at West Valley College, Saratoga, CA in the Fall of 2005.
